Focusing inwards

Believe it or not, self-care is a constant struggle for Health Coaches but is something that is tremendously important. How can you help others if you're out of balance yourself? What lessons can you share from personal experience to inspire and motivate the people around you if you haven't overcome your own struggles?

It is great that you've taken the bold step to try Dr. Amy Myers' protocol. It will help you further tune in to your body, listen to your thyroid, experiment more with cooking, and explore how you respond to dietary discipline.

One thing I forgot to ask, did you have a blood test before embarking on this 30 day journey? In addition to simply seeing how you feel, it would be a good idea to compare your blood test results before and after this experiment to see if there is a change that affects your Hashimotos.

Don't forget self care

Another thing I think would be helpful to supplement this period of nutrition focus is some extra personal TLC. You've mentioned meditation in the past, is that something you've been doing consistently? If not, perhaps you can commit to 5 or 10 minutes every morning or evening to center yourself and open the channels of communication between your inner and outer body.

Self massage before bed is another practice I highly recommend. Use any natural oil that you like, seat yourself comfortably on the floor, perhaps on a towel, and give yourself a massage with love and thoughtful attention, starting with one foot, then the other, and move upwards so that you massage your whole body. It's great for hormonal balance, quieting the nerves, and releasing stress. Doing this right before bed will also help you have a deep and restful sleep.

And other interesting things

Speaking of sleep, during our call we talked about how fascination dreams can be and how the practice of writing them down every morning as soon as you wake up can help them become more vivid and memorable, giving you a window into your own subconscious mind and imagination. If you're interested in learning more, pick up this incredible book: The Field Guide to Lucid Dreaming.

Regarding the subconscious exercise I mentioned, use this technique anytime you have a personal uncertainty and are looking for authentic guidance:

Every night as you're falling asleep ask a short and direct question in your mind, repeating it over and over until you're asleep. You must do this consistently in order to see any effect. At the same time, during the day be open and attuned to the opportunities that come your way and say yes when you can to see where they lead. Remember that your subconscious mind is always working to direct you towards your highest good but you must listen and follow the signs. The book I mentioned that can elaborate on this is The Power of Your Subconscious Mind.

We also talked about Instagram, the accounts I mentioned that are great for space images are astro_terry, nasa, and iss.

And the gluten-free app I love, in case a colleague might want to download it for you when you're in Miami, is called Find me GF.

Talk to you soon!
